Filip Krovinovic is a player who continues to impress Nottingham Forest supporters with each game he plays for the club.
He was added on loan from Benfica in January to try and combat a lack of creativity in Chris Hughton’s ranks.
It’s fair to say he has done that. More goals and assists would be ideal; although, the evidence so far is that he is more than capable at Championship level.
The 25-year-old was left out at Cardiff as Forest won 1-0. It was a move that did take some supporters by surprise.
Krovinovic grabbed his first goal for the Reds in the 1-1 draw at Brentford and looked to be full of confidence.
Hughton’s decision to save him for the QPR game now looks like a masterstroke, however.
As shown by Who Scored, Krovinovic was sensational against Mark Warburton’s team.
He completed four key passes – the most of any Forest player and also claimed an assist.
The Croatian also had four shots and completed 82% of his 28 passes.
Interestingly, he wasn’t afraid to do his bit without the ball either. He registered three tackles and three interceptions during the 3-1 win.
It was Krovinovic’s work going forward that proved particularly impressive.
He’s added some real fluency to Forest in the final third and it’ll be interesting to see if he’s back next season.
In the summer he will have just a year to run on his Benfica deal and they might view it as the last chance to get a fee for him.
Krovinovic is by no means the perfect player but the signs are that he could still improve. At 25, he would also be a player Forest could sign ahead of his best years.
The overall sense on Monday was one of sheer delight and Krovinovic emerged from the contest as a real shining light for the Reds.
