Forest’s promise to Chris Hughton as opponents face injury crisis

Chairman’s promise to Hughton

Nottingham Forest Chairman Nicholas Randall QC has promised manager Chris Hughton that he will have the final say on signings during the upcoming transfer window.

The Reds boss will look to add to his squad in the coming months as Forest look to climb up the Championship next season.

Despite a number of people at the club involved in recruitment, Hughton has been told he has the ‘trust’ of the board to bring the right players to the club.

“Chris has brought a couple of people in himself. We have Francois (Modesto) as well, who has that Olympiacos knowledge which gives us a domestic and a European, and a global, scope to bring the right players in,” he said.

Manager provides transfer update

Oxford United manager Karl Robinson has said that he hopes there will be some news soon on the future of Nottingham Forest loanee Marcus McGuane.

The 22-year-old was on loan with the League One club until the end of the season until a hamstring injury bought his season to an early end.

However, his performances in the 15 league appearances for the club have led to Oxford wanting to make the move permanent.

McGuane moved to Forest from Barcelona in February 2020 having previously made his way up through the Arsenal youth teams.

He is yet to make an appearance for the club and if Robinson’s latest comments are anything to come by he could now be set to leave the club on a permanent basis.

“Everyone knows how much I want him back here,” the Oxford boss told the Oxford Mail .

“He wants to be back here as well.
