Oxford United manager Karl Robinson has said that he hopes there will be some news soon on the future of Nottingham Forest loanee Marcus McGuane.
The 22-year-old was on loan with the League One club until the end of the season until a hamstring injury bought his season to an early end.
However, his performances in the 15 league appearances for the club have led to Oxford wanting to make the move permanent.
He is yet to make an appearance for the club and if Robinson’s latest comments are anything to come by he could now be set to leave the club on a permanent basis.
“Everyone knows how much I want him back here,” the Oxford boss told the Oxford Mail .
“He wants to be back here as well.
“We’re working extremely hard and hopefully we can have some news on him.
“He’s certainly a player that we know the owners want.
“We know Notts Forest are happy with it and we’re happy with what we think we can get out of the deal.
“Hopefully in the next seven days we can have some news.”
The latest update comes days after Robinson hinted that there was some business in the pipeline.
“Hopefully. If we get our work done this week, maybe we can get one or two things done,” he said.

Reports suggest that Oxford are ‘in talks’ with Forest over taking the player on a permanent deal.
McGuane made a total of 24 appearances for Barcelona’s ‘B’ team between the years of 2019 and 2020 before making his move to the City Ground.
